About m.a.d.e.

m.a.d.e. is a multi-sector partnership (public, private and nonprofit)  aligned with the Ingham Change Initiative and Capital Area Birth to Work that is designed to have an impact on policy, practice and perception to improve outcomes for children, youth and young adults. By investing in the development of creative entrepreneurs and exposing individuals to career pathways in media, arts, design and entertainment, m.a.d.e. is leveraging opportunity for all young people to succeed in the global knowledge economy.

The m.a.d.e. ALLIANCE is a group of creative entrepreneurs and community partners who are working together to make sure Lansing stays on the list of "Top 10 Cities for Young Adults" by developing new opportunities and spaces to learn, work, and play that build on the diverse assets of our creative community. Multi-sector partners and supporters in the development of m.a.d.e. include: Ingham Lansing Community Coalition for Youth, Ingham Change Initiative, MSU University Outreach & Engagement - Center for Community and Economic Development, One Love Global, Power 96.5 FM and business leader Chris Holman.

Thank you to the Ingham County Board of Commissioners for your encouragement to develop and facilitate innovative solutions to promote positive youth development and successful transitions to higher education, career and family life. The Community Coalition for Youth has presentation to the Judiciary and Human Services Committees and the strategy to utilize the m.a.d.e. approach to open doors for young people who have come in contact with the justice system was unanimously supported. With increased capacity and support, m.a.d.e. is a viable pathway for employment and entrepreneurship for those with significant barriers to job attainment.

We can accomplish so much more by working together and combining our collective resources. Through cooperation and collaboration, we all win. m.a.d.e. social enterprise ventures will raise funds for youth development programs such as the Power of 9 and the Peace & Prosperity Youth Action Movement.

While m.a.d.e. is open to and promotes all creative genres, the partnership is intentionally supporting the advancement and unity of the HipHop community in the region because of the genre's economic potential. HipHop is to be uplifted and celebrated for its ability to reach across race, age, religion, ethnicity, culture, geography, and socio-economic status to give a voice to both the privileged and the oppressed, to entertain the masses, and influence the leaders of today and tomorrow.
